Stage 1

Stage 3: Female-to-Male Surgery – Penile Reconstruction
Procedure: In this stage, the penis is reconstructed using free tissue transfer, typically from the forearm, thigh, or back. The urethra is connected, and sensory nerves are either buried at the base or linked to the sensory nerves of the flap. The procedure takes approximately 7 hours.
Anaesthesia: General anesthesia is used during the surgery.
Recovery: The recovery time is typically 7 to 10 days, with rest advised during this period.
Stage 1 & 2: Female-to-Male Surgery – Mastectomy & Removal of Uterus/Ovaries
Procedure: In Stage 1, the breast tissue is removed through a mastectomy, and the nipple is repositioned. Liposuction is used in the axillary areas, and subcutaneous excision of the breast tissue is performed. In Stage 2, the uterus and ovaries are removed laparoscopically. The vagina is closed, and the urethra is advanced anteriorly to facilitate the next stage of penile reconstruction.
Anaesthesia: Both stages are performed under general anesthesia.
Recovery: Both procedures are typically done as a day-care procedure, with the patient discharged the same day. Rest is recommended for 5-6 days before returning to normal activities.
Stage 4: Female-to-Male Surgery – Scrotal and Penile Implantation
Procedure: In this stage, the testes are placed in the preserved labia majora to create the appearance of a scrotum. Additionally, an implant is placed in the reconstructed penis, which can be either a static silicone or a dynamic three-part implant.
Time: The procedure typically takes 1 to 2 hours.
Recovery: Recovery time is usually 3 to 5 days.
MALE TO FEMALE SURGERY (SEX CHANGE SURGERY)
